"I want something to be wrong with me!"

Daisy's eye is almost completely healed, and we are so happy. After three additional trips back to the vet, more ointment and some inflammation medication, things are looking good. The multiple-times-a-day-treatments should cease completely by the end of the week ... whew! She is acting like her old, happy self again $500 later.

Leyla is just glad that Daisy is not getting as much extra attention anymore. Oooo, can you say jealous? Watching her get so jealous reminded me of a similar situation many years ago ... with humans, not animals.

When I was in fourth grade and my brother was in Kindergarten, we both had accidents at recess on the same day. I fell on the hardtop that made up the playground (when I had to go to school at Oak Park Mall for one year due to asbestos at my elementary school). I cut my knee open and had to get five stitches. My brother fell off the monkey bars while imitating the Gibbons that he had seen on his zoo fieldtrip that day and broke his arm.

Both my brother and I were propped up at home later that evening, and people were stopping by with balloons and Get Well cards, our parents were waiting on us hand and foot and everyone was showering us with attention. All of a sudden, my sister, who was five-years-old, started crying. Everyone turned to stare at her, and my mom said, "Honey, what's wrong?" And between sobs my sister said, "I ... I want something to ... to be wrong with mmmeeeeee!"

If Leyla could talk, I have no doubt that's what she would have said, too!

Spoiled

I'm very spoiled. My husband comes home for lunch everyday, and I get to spend time with him. In the middle of the day. For a whole hour. I love that. It makes even the crappiest of days better. The pups like it, too. Here they are doing their best to hold him down so that he doesn't return to work ... all 14 lbs. of them ... combined.

"There's no place like home, there's no place like home ..."

I'm packing up Leyla and Daisy and shipping them to Kansas to bring Kent home! They are going UPS ... United Puppy Shipping! Kent has been working on the new Schlitterbahn there for two weeks now, and isn't due back until Wednesday. And he's only coming home then because I'm going on a girls' family coast trip on Thursday, and someone has to be home to take care of things. He'll probably go straight back the day after I get home, so we'll just see each other in passing ... not fun! We (the pets and I) all miss him very much. It's lonely around here without him. Oh, and speaking of the Wizard of Oz reference, I saw Wicked at the Majestic on Sunday with my mom and her Betas group, and it was FABULOUS. See it if you can!

Daisy didn't know what to think of those weird styrofoam peanuts!

Halloween goes to the dogs

It was just my mom and I and our dogs for Halloween! I dressed up as a pirate, Daisy was an angel and Leyla was a devil. Anyone that knows my dogs knows that this suits their personalities to a tee! Leyla went sans horns ... I managed to get out of the store without them somehow. Daisy was humiliated and froze whenever her costume was on, basically refusing to move! Leyla pranced along as usual and later got a hold of my stuffed parrot when I wasn't looking and ripped the tail feathers off (see what I mean? A little devil!). My mom was a scarecrow and Molly was Wonder Dog! She and Daisy were a big hit with the kids. Leyla, on the other hand, didn't get to enjoy the trick-or-treat fun, because she barked at everyone at the door ... my little 5 lb. guard dog. Kent had to work, and I didn't get a picture of him, but he was a blind limo driver! Here are the highlights of the evening ...
